<p>CBI had filed a charge sheet against Bangarappa and others on the ground that they had hatched a criminal conspiracy by placing an order for 100 Apple Macintosh computers from Classik computers for a high price and paying an advance of Rs 1.52 crore, leading to a loss to the government exchequer.<br /><br />A CBI probe into the computer purchase was ordered by M Veerappa Moily who had succeeded Bangarappa as chief minister.<br /><br />The designated court had in 2003 acquitted Bangarappa and others after it found that the prosecution had failed to prove their charges.<br /><br />Former Chief Secretary, J. Alexander, the proprietors of Classik Computers, V Goplakrishna and V Gokul Krishna, and then Chairman of the Mysore Development Authority (MUDA), P Govindaraj were among those named as accused in the case.</p>
