“If the Government fails to order a probe in a week, with the condition to submit inquiry report in three months, I will begin the fast in front of the Vidhana Soudha from July 8,” Kumaraswamy told reporters on Thursday.

The BJP recently released a chargesheet in the form of a booklet titled “Amassing wealth by corrupt practices: A tell-tale story of H D Kumaraswamy and family,” in reply to allegations of irregularities levelled by Kumaraswamy against Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa.

Kumaraswamy claimed that he had released documents to support all his allegations against Yeddyurappa so far whereas the BJP had been making false allegations, without any documentary evidence. “If people still believe in what the BJP has been saying, I will quit politics,” he stated.

Meanwhile, the State’s Special Representative in New Delhi, Dhananjay Kumar, ruled out the ruling BJP handing over the probe into the allegations against the Gowda family to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Speaking to reporters, Kumar alleged the CBI was controlled by the Congress and there was no question of handing over the matter to the investigation agency.

He said the State government would prefer its own investigation agencies to probe the allegations.
