H K Hallesh, T V Venkatesh and others had filed a petition challenging the disqualification. They had contended that since they belong to the Congress party and refused to join the ruling BJP, they were disqualified.
Justice Abdul Nazeer, who heard the matter, ordered an emergent notice to secretary, Urban Development Department and others and stayed the disqualification.
Karunakar Reddy had recommended the disqualification of the TMC members who had allegedly given loans and subsidies for purchasing autorickshaws to their relatives under the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (SC/ST) Welfare Scheme.
