A former BJP state minister, a BJP ex-MP and two police officers are among 17 people booked in a rape case filed by a girl. A married girl has accused her husband and several “influential people” including a former minister and a former parliamentarian of having drugged her and sexually exploiting her.

The resident of Aboobshahar of Sirsa in Haryana said she was a minor when she was married on December 20, 2010, to Pilibanga, Hanumangarh resident, Omprakash Godara.

Still a minor, she filed a case on January 1, 2011, against her in-laws for allegedly harassing her, trying to extort dowry from her.

According to her, in February, her husband brought her to Jaipur where they moved into a rented house in Vaishali Nagar. Godara then allegedly used to drug her food and Rajkumar, Godara’s brother would “misbehave” with her.

The girl has alleged that her husband invited politicians and police officials to the house and forced her to sleep with them to further his business interests. When she protested, Godara would tell her that he didn’t consider her his wife and that she was merely a pawn that he was using in pursuit of his political ambitions.

A report has been filed at the Vaishali Nagar police station on the order of a lower court in Jaipur.

The list of those accused by the report has 17 names including former minister Jogeshwar Garg, former parliamentarian Nihalchand Meghwal, complainant’s husband Omprakash Godara, DSP Anil Rao, CI Mahaveer, Radheshyam Godara, Satish Singodia, Pushpendra Bhardwaj, Vivekanand, Vikas Agarwal, Arif, Harish, Kuldeep, Bhagwanji, Manish and Pintoo.

The scandal has come as a major setback for the Opposition BJP that has been targeting the Ashok Gehlot government in the Bhanwari Devi case.
