The BJP government in Gujarat banned Singh’s controversial book Jinnah: India, Partition, Independence. But the Karnataka government is yet to follow suit.
“The book is being banned not because of its content but because of factionalism and infighting within the BJP,” said Congress spokesperson and Rajya Sabha MP, Jayanthi Natarajan.
She, however, reiterated that the Congress rejected Singh’s views on Jinnah.
The Congress also accused the BJP of maintaining double standards towards its own leaders. It said the BJP had adopted different yardsticks for L K Advani and Singh, although both had drawn flak for their comments on Jinnah.
