<p>Employees of revenue department and village accountants staged a stir demanding immediate transfer of Hassan tahsildar K Mathai and also submitted a memorandum to the deputy commissioner.<br /><br /></p>.<p>The cold war between the village accountants and the tahsildar was in place since many days and on Monday the employees decided to stage a protest taking half a day leave from their duties.<br /><br />But the deputy commissioner K Jagadish intervened and requested the office-bearers of the associations to submit a memorandum. Accordingly, the office-bearers of the taluks submitted a memorandum to the deputy commissioner.<br /><br />Speaking to the media after submitting the memorandum village accountants claimed that the tahsildar has been harassing the staff. The tahsildar who had taken charge in the year 2010 November had ordered for departmental probe on 20 people. Steps have been taken on the staff who had taken leave to visit Sabarimala.<br /><br /> He had even issued a notice to a village accountant Chandrashekar for a petty reason. Upset over the incident Chandrashekar met with a bike accident and lost his life, they alleged.<br /><br />They also alleged that though Mathai had suspended his subordinates over petty reasons, he himself is involved in scandals. When he was transferred months after his taking charge, he had approached KAT seeking stay for his transfer. He had even gone to Bangalore on May 9, 2011 to sort out the issue but the records in his office show he was in a meeting on the day.<br /><br />He had also given false information that the transfer would affect education of his children, while he stays alone in Hassan. The staff also shared their grievances that they are called for a meeting and no seating facilities would be made and they had to inevitably stand throughout the meeting and Hassan has never seen such a tahsildar before.<br /><br />The other complaints put forward to the deputy commissioner was misuse of funds allotted for stationery, threatening the staff, harassing the revenue supervisors and others. Though it was directed to hold a meeting to resolve the issue, it was not followed and contrarily the 11 officers who lodged a complaint were issued a disciplinary notice.<br /><br />They demanded immediate transfer of the tahsildar.
