Four girls and two pimps, including a man, were arrested for being involved in a prostitution racket from Madhu Vihar at Mandawali in east Delhi on  Wednesday, said Ashok Chand, Deputy Commissioner of Police (crime).

Addressing mediapersons here on Thursday, the officer said that the arrested girls aged between 19 and 30 are from Delhi, Jharkhand, Uttarakhand and Nepal. The pimps arrested are Gaurav Anand, a resident of Geeta Colony in east Delhi and Sonu Bangalan, a native of West Bengal, now residing in Delhi,  he said.

After police received information that a prostitution racket is being run by Gaurav Anand (30), a pimp, they sent a decoy customer to meet him at Madhu Vihar.  He was then taken to Sonu Bangalan, who was present along with four girls. A deal was struck for Rs 7,000 between them, following which a raid was conducted, police said.

During interrogation, Anand told police that he had worked as driver at a call centre where he came in contact with Sonu Bangalan and became associated with the prostitution racket.

Both had been running the racket for the past three years in east Delhi. To avoid detection by the police they kept on changing the place. The place at Madhu Vihar, from where they operated had been taken on rent for the past eight months on a monthly rent of Rs 8,000, police said.
