V Diwakaran, a close relative of Sasikala, who was expelled from AIADMK's primary membership last month, has moved the Madras High Court for anticipatory bail, apprehending arrest in connection with a house-demolition case.

Claiming he was being "harassed due to political vendetta", Diwakaran said he was in no way connected to the alleged demolition of a house in november 28, 2011, for which a case was registered against him by the Tiruvarur district police.

According to the Tiruvarur district police, Diwakaran had instigated the demolition of a house belonging to one Kasthuri at Rishiyur village in Needamangalam taluk.
Denying the charge, Diwakaran alleged that the authorities of Arulmigu Kailasanathan

Temple at Rishiyur had conducted the demolition process under the supervision of the assistant commissioner of the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endownments Department, as the site where the house stood belonged to the temple.

Kasthuri had occupied the temple site illegally and constructed a house without the knowledge of the temple authorities, he said.

On January 21, a team of police officers had gone to his house in search of him, he said, adding that they informed his wife that they had come to inquire about his role in the house demolition. He claimed he had come to know about the allegation only through media reports.

He said police officials, who were refused permission to enter a college run by him as girl students were on the campus, told the college management that they were acting on the instructions of the district Superintendent of Police. The complaint was filed to tarnish his image, he alleged.

The petition is likely to be taken up tomorrow.
