The CBI on Friday conducted searches at the premises of BJP MP from Dadra and Nagar Haveli Natubhai Gomanbhai Patel and a senior cop of Delhi Police in relation to disproportionate assets cases.

According to sources in the agency, searches were carried out by the Central Bureau of Investigation sleuths at Patel’s South Avenue residence in Delhi as well as at his Silvassa house in the Union Territory early morning.

Sources informed that there are allegations that Patel, who is a first-time Lok Sabha MP and a member of standing committee on Home Affairs, has accumulated wealth disproportionate to his known sources of income.

In a similar case of disproportionate assets, the agency also raided premises of an assistant commissioner of police Mahipal Singh of Delhi Police.

Searches were carried out at five different locations in Delhi, including the residence and office premises of Mahipal Singh, currently posted with 4th Battalion of Delhi Police.

Documents recovered
Sources in the agency revealed that raids at Singh’s premises have led to the recovery of documents pertaining to properties in Delhi and Faridabad, bank accounts’ statements and various other incriminating documents.

The CBI had been keeping a close watch on the activities of the ACP, following a complaint against him about indulging in alleged irregularities, official sources said.
