Last Updated 04 September 2009, 17:08 IST

Singh who was here to meet Union Home Ministry Officials, told reporters that the State government had accepted Kempaiah’s  request of seeking VRS and added that he has been relieved of service.

Asked about Kempaiah’s request to reconsider his resignation, Ajai Kumar Singh said, “As the acceptance of his application for voluntary retirement was published in the Gazette, the question of withdrawal or reconsidering it does not arise.”

An ADG rank officer, Kempaiah, who was heading the newly created internal security wing had gone on one month leave and subsequently sought voluntary retirement.

Seeks withdrawal

However he sprang a surprise on Thursday by attending his office at Police Headquarters and also requested the Chief Secretary to withdraw his voluntary retirement application. Though there is three months’ time for the Government to accept any VRS application, the officer can also withdraw his request. In Kempaiah’s case, withdrawal is not applicable as his request was already accepted and he was relieved from the service, sources said.
