A Pakistani girl fell in love with an Indian boy in Rampur town, hoping to spend a happy life with her love.

But, bad blood between India and Pakistan, threatens to play  spoilsport in this love story and the Pakistani girl may well become another ‘Zaara’ (a character played by Preity Zinta in Shahrukh Khan’s romantic drama Veer-Zaara) with the authorities pressing her to leave the country as her visa had expired.

All efforts by Adil, the young Rampur boy and Urooz, from Karachi have not yielded any fruitful results and their love story appears destined to meet an unfortunate end unless a miracle occurs.

According to reports, Urooz had come to Rampur to attend the marriage ceremony of a relative of hers in 2008 when she happened to meet Adil, who was also there as a guest. It was ‘love at first sight’, Adil says.

When the lovers expressed their intention to marry, none from their families had opposed. The marriage took place with much fanfare at Rampur in the same year. Urooz, however, could not go to her husband’s home as she and her family members had to leave the country as their visas were to expire very soon.

Since then Urooz has made attempts to come to India to meet her husband but she was denied a visa. After four years of continuous efforts, Urooz was finally granted a short term visa for a month from March 17.

As her visa expired on April 17 last, she should have left the Indian soil but she did not. “I do not know when I will be able to come here again,” she said.

They know they are fighting a lost battle. Urooz may be arrested and deported if she does not leave immediately.

Adil and Urooz’s is not the only love story that may be headed for a tragic end. There are hundreds like them in the country. In UP's Moradabad town alone, there are hundreds of Pakistani women, who had been married to Indians for the past 20 years but they had not been granted an Indian citizenship.
