<div>The Lokayukta police early Saturday morning raided 13 residences, offices and commercial complexes belonging to BJP legislator M Srinivas, his son S Venkatesh Babu, who is also a councillor of Kottigepalya ward and Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Health, and their associates. <br /><br /><div>The raid was conducted following a private complaint against the Rajarajeshwarinagar MLA, alleging that he has amassed wealth disproportionate to his known sources of income. <br /><br /></div><div>A team of 50 officials, under the supervision of Superintendent of Police P K Shivashankar and led by four DySPs, conducted raids on all the premises, beginning at 6 am.<br /><br /></div><div>Searches in the residences and the offices of Srinivas, Babu, associates Rajanna and Nagaraju yielded documents pertaining to agricultural and non-agricultural properties worth several crores of rupees, in addition to considerable amount of jewellery. The most significant find was at the house of Babu’s close aide Rajanna, where the police recovered three suitcases filled with documents related to the MLA.<br /><br /></div><div>At Srinivas’ house in Jayanagar 7th Block, the police seized documents pertaining to housing sites, commercial complex and 10 acres and 13 guntas of agricultural land on Kanakapura Road. Records of bank deposits worth Rs 54.06 lakh were also found.<br /><br /></div><div>The raid on the apartment of Babu in Jayanagar 7th Block yielded documents pertaining to 16 acres and 19 guntas of land in Kaggalipura, along with documents pertaining to four industrial sheds, apart from three four-wheelers, cash and jewellery. Documents were seized at the office of Nagaraj, a friend of Babu, in Laggere. <br /><br /></div><div>The RMS International School run by the MLA’s family on Kanakapura Main Road and industrial shed near Konanakunte Cross were also raided and documents pertaining to the land and houses were recovered. <br /><br /></div><div>A 6.5-acre plot belonging to Srinivas has been turned into an industrial estate, which has been leased and rented to small companies. <br /><br /></div><div>The residence of Rashmi D’souza, another known associate of Babu, at Hosakerehalli in Banashankari 3rd Stage could not be searched as no one was found at home. The police will raid the house on Monday.<br /><br /></div><div>Dinesh Kallahalli had filed a complaint, accusing Srinivas of amassing wealth in excess of Rs 300 crore. Dinesh had stated that Srinivas held a public position since 1983, when he became the MLA of Uttarahalli from the Janata Party. In 1998, he was elected to the Lok Sabha, when he had declared his assets to the Election Commission. In his declaration of assets before the Lokayukta in 2007, Srinivas stated that his assets were worth Rs 19 crore. <br /><br /></div><div>Dinesh has alleged that there is a Rs 300-crore variation in the declaration and his actual assets. During his tenure as a public servant in various positions, he is also accused of granting gomala land to his supporters.
