Congress flays BJP for political drama

Last Updated 07 July 2012, 19:18 IST

The Congress on Saturday criticised the BJP for the political turmoil in the State and demanded dissolution of the Assembly and fresh elections.

“A new chief minister is no solution for Karnataka. The only solution is to dissolve the Assembly and go for fresh elections, as there is a continuous governance paralysis there,” said Congress general secretary B K Hariprasad.

Hariprasad, who hails from the State, asserted there had been no development work in the State, since Sadananda Gowda took charge as chief minister after B S Yeddyurappa’s unceremonious exit in 2011.

The Congress leader said, “123 taluks are facing severe drought, there is a serious drinking water problem, the poor and the farmers are facing problems. But, the BJP is busy politicking”.

Hariprasad blamed the BJP government for the law and order problem, even in the State capital Bangalore.

He said things had not moved at all in the State since Gowda became chief minister in August 2011. “But he is trying to show that he has been working, by clearing a large number of files now.”
