Former Karnataka skipper J Arun Kumar was named the batting coach while former paceman Mansoor Ali Khan was selected the bowling coach of State Ranji Trophy squad this season.

Another from State batting stalwart Sudhakar Rao was appointed the team manager.
The relatively young coaching line up was picked after a series of interviews held by the KSCA Cricket Committee a couple of weeks ago.

“The committee decided that we should go for people with fresh thoughts and ideas,” said KSCA secretary Javagal Srinath during a press conference here at the M Chinnaswamy stadium on Tuesday. “(K) Jeshwant has coached the team for two years and we thought it was time to bring in someone new. He had a good stint but we wanted someone with contemporary values and practices.”

“We also realised that specific coaches would help,” added the former India paceman.

Srinath further explained the selection process. “A lot of people think we just elected people who we wanted but that was not the case. We had long interviews to select the coaches. Six players were called for interviews and five of them turned up. We asked them about their ideas of coaching and their likes and dislikes, before selecting them.”
