The Lokayukta police on Saturday registered an FIR against Bangalore Deputy Commissioner (DC) M K Aiyappa and the Lokayukta City Superintendent of Police P K Shivashankar.
The FIR was registered by the office of the Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) H N Sathyanarayana Rao. The SP of Ramanagar U P Shivarama Reddy has been given the task of conducting the investigation.
The Special Lokayukta Court has referred the complaint to the ADGP, following a private complaint by Srinivasmurthy alleging that Shivashankar had informed the DC of a complaint against him. Two more people, a case worker in the DC’s office, Rajeshwari and a petitioner in the revision petition Gayathri have also been named in the complaint as accused.
In his complaint, Srinivasmurthy had stated that DC Aiyappa had consistently favoured Gayathri in a review petition pertaining to the ownership of land measuring 1.24 acres.
Aiyappa had also failed to direct Gayathri, the opposite party to serve a petition copy in Court. When Srinivasmurthy tried to obtain the petition copies, case worker Rajeshwari on behalf of Aiyappa told Srinivasmurthy to pay a bribe of Rs 3 lakh per acre to get a favourable order. This demand was recorded on the cell phone of the complainant. Following this, they headed straight to the Lokayukta office and tried to lodge a complaint.
Srinivasmurthy contended that when he immediately went back to Aiyappa’s office, he was shocked to realise that Aiyappa already knew Srinivasmurthy had gone to the Lokayukta office to lodge a complaint.
Shivashankar was solely responsible for giving information to Aiyappa with regard to the prospective complaint by Srinivasmurthy against Aiyappa and Rajeshwari on their unlawful demand, within a span of one hour, the complainant contended.
