He was rushed to Bhagwan Mahaveer Jain Hospital at Vasanthnagar where doctors performed a surgery on him. His condition is stable and he is out of danger, Dr Preeti Adoni said.

JC Nagar police have registered a case of attempt to murder under Section 307 of the Indian Penal Code and are investigating.

Shivakumar is the son of former minister from Athani, Laxman Savadi’s elder brother Kashappa Savadi.

Shivakumar, who recently completed his MBA, was working on a project to set up a starch factory in his hometown Athani.

Family sources said Shivakumar was engaged to Lakshmi V Y from the City on February 20.
According to the police, on Tuesday evening, Shivakumar, had been to UB City along with his fiancee and had later dropped her off at her paying guest accommodation in Benson Town.

As he was returning to his uncle Savadi’s residence at 7 Minister’s Quarters at about 7:25 pm, a gang of four men who followed his car blocked his way and attacked him with a dagger as he got down.

The gang fled the scene as Shivakumar collapsed in a pool of blood. One Basheer Karim Khan rushed him to Jain Hospital.

Dr Adoni said Shivakumar had suffered a major fracture of his left arm humerus bone which was restored during surgery.

She said a deep cut on the face had damaged his facial nerve, which plastic and neurosurgeons have restored.

“He has been shifted to the intensive care unit where he will be kept under observation for 24 hours,” she said.
