"Everyday should be woman's day- why a specific one. How many different avatars a woman takes in a lifetime, men do not. Men are not as adept as women when it comes to knowing a man," Bachchan posted on Facebook.
Veteran actress Shabana Azmi took to Twitter and said, "Happy international Women's day. We salute and celebrate the brave women who made it possible for us to tread the path of freedom they paved."
Working mothers Juhi Chawla and Madhuri Dixit also spared a thought.
"Happy women's day," Chawla posted, while Dixit said, "Happy Women's Day sisters."
Actress Shilpa Shetty, who welcomed a baby boy last year said, "Here is a toast to us gorgeous women, for the men who have us, the losers who lost us and the lucky ones who will meet us! Happy Women's Day."

Actor-producer Akshay Kumar, whose wife actress Twinkle Khanna gave birth to a bay girl last year, said, "Happy Women's Day, everyday! You don't need me or anyone else to remind you that, but no harm in a little pampering. Enjoy."
Actress Priyanka Chopra tweeted, "Happy Women's Day to all the wonderful ladies in the world, today value yourself and know that you are special. Don't let anyone make you feel otherwise.
