BSY pats himself for BJP rout

B S Yeddyurappa, leader of the Karnataka Janata Party (KJP) which affected BJP’s prospects in the ULB polls, on Tuesday hoped that the BJP central leadership would now realise his contribution in building the party in the State.

“Without me, the BJP has cut a sorry figure. It has lost in many districts, including its strongholds like Udupi. The party has paid a heavy price for conspiring against me,” he said at a media conference.

The BJP was once known as an urban-centric party. But it has lost badly in the ULB polls. The party has failed miserably even in places represented by its Cabinet ministers.

“I feel hurt seeing the party that I built over the last 40 years wilting away,” he added.

Yeddyurappa who ruled out rejoining the BJP said: “I am not in touch with any BJP leaders. I will never return to it.”

He also said that he had accomplished his immediate task of finishing the BJP in the State and that his next task would be to storm the Vidhana Soudha in the Assembly elections.
