G'barga college gears up for CET counselling

Similarly, the BVB Engineering College will share this privilege in Hubli. This is for the first time that the CET Counselling has percolated down from Bangalore to help poor students and their parents to have easy and cost effective access to counselling process as per the decision government.
The Karnataka Education Authority (KEA), which will conduct the CET Counselling for allotment of seats to engineering and medical courses including Dental Sciences, Homoeopathy, Ayurveda, etc., had earlier planned to have the counselling in the Jnana Ganga campus of Gulbarga university. However, the KEA had to drop the move as it will be inconvenient for students and parents coming from different parts of the region. Besides difficult access to the Jnana Ganga campus, it is said to lack excellent high-tech communication facilities and power supply.
The KEA sources maintained that due to excellent BSNL communication connectivity there would be no technical hitch whatsoever in the conduct of counselling. The seat availability display board would remain updated at any given point of time simultaneously at all the three counselling centres-Gulbarga, Hubli, and Bangalore. It is roughly estimated that about 10,000 students may take benefit of the Gulbarga counselling centre, and about 13,000 students the Hubli counselling centre. The rest will be attending the counselling at Bangalore. The KEA will be hiring about 25 personnel on deputation basis from different departments particularly the Education Department for the smooth conduct of the counselling for about three months.
