Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit on Tuesday said that although the OBCs (Other Backward Classes) are going ahead in life on account of their hardwork, they should concentrate on education to reach the top level.

“The OBCs have been contributing substantially in all development and infrastructure works in the city and are marching ahead by dint of their hardwork,” said Dikshit while addressing the OBC convention at Talkatora Stadium.

“But they should strive to reach the top level. To avail  opportunities they will have to educate their children, since education is the key and it diminishes difference between various communities,” she added.

She further said the OBCs are the country’s backbone and it is difficult to neglect them  as they comprise country’s 52 per cent population.

“The government at the state and national levels have been trying to ensure opportunities to these communities,” said Dikshit while adding that her government will continue to make all possible efforts to ensure welfare and upliftment of OBCs.
