The stamp was a way of honouring Jugan for her sacrifice and the legacy that is serving the elderly poor in city and State. The Little Sisters for the Poor are running four old age homes in the State and 13 in the country. Established in 1900, the Bangalore old age home has been serving the elderly destitutes for the past 109 years.

Speaking on the occasion, Bhardwaj, remembered the history of Jugan and said that she was the “Saint of hope for the aged poor”. One hundred and seventy years after taking care of the first poor abandoned elderly lady, there are now 2,700 Little Sisters of the Poor caring for more than 13,000 needy elders in 202 family-like Homes in 32 countries.
