<p>The Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore (IIM-B) announced on Wednesday the top three teams of the Next Big Idea 2013 (NBI), a national business plan competition. <br /><br /></p>.<p>Team Visionaries, Team Ttatva, and Team Globsol were chosen among the 10 teams that had made it to the final. Team Visionaries, consisting of Mukul Mohan and M V Jairaj, came up with a cheap visual aid for people with poor vision. It used locally available resources instead of imported technology to reduce costs. <br /><br />Team Ttatva, led by Naresh Khanduri and Ritwik Batabyal, came up with ‘CheckCar’ technology that comprehensively assesses the physical state of a vehicle, thus allowing buyers of used cars to make informed choices. <br /><br />Team Globsol, comprising Manoj Sanker P R and Mrinal Parekh, designed ‘Emote Sensor’ – an aid for parents or caregivers of autistic kids. <br /><br />The top two teams will go on to take part in the Intel Global Challenge to be held at the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley, US, in October, 2013. <br /><br />The two teams will compete with participants from over 30 countries across the world. Participants at the IGC get an opportunity to present their ideas to highly successful entrepreneurs and investors in the US.<br /><br />NBI, supported by the National Science and Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board under the aegis of the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India and Intel India, was conducted in two rounds. <br /><br />It received more than 320 B-Plans selected from several thousands of business plans at competitions organised by institutions such as IIT Bombay, IT-BHU, NITK-Surathkal, etc. Of 31 teams that gave presentations in the pre-finals, 10 were shortlisted for the final. <br /></p>
