Apparently upset over scoring low in their class 12 exam results, two girl students committed suicide in different parts of the city on Monday.

In the first incident, a 17-year-old girl studying in a government school killed herself at her house in south Delhi’s Chhatarpur. She had scored 54 per cent marks. She was found hanging from a ceiling fan. Her parents told police that she was upset over scoring less marks in the examination.

“She was expecting more than that, and had been depressed due to this ever since the result was declared,” a police officer said.

The officer added that the incident came to light after a call was made to the police control room around 11 am. “The caller informed that his daughter had committed suicide,” he said. The girl’s family members had untied the body and informed police.

A PCR team and local police rushed to the spot and found the girl with blood trickling from her nose and mouth. She was rushed to trauma centre of All India Institute of Medical Sciences, where doctors declared her as brought dead.

Police have not recovered any suicide note from the house and have questioned her family members and friends. The girl’s father works as a supervisor in a hardware shop in Chhatarpur.

In the second incident, Mahek, 17, hanged herself from a ceiling fan at her house at Rohini in west Delhi. A neighbour spotted her body and informed her parents.

A suicide note has been found, in which she said “sorry” to her parents, said an
officer.

Mahek had got low marks in the exam, the officer added.

Uttarakhand suicide

A girl, who failed in her Class XII board examinations, allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself at her home, police said on Monday.

Vimla Patel, a student of class XII, went to a cyber-cafe at 10 am on Sunday to find out how she had performed as the Uttarakhand Board exam results were out, they said. The girl returned home dissatisfied as she had failed in the exam they said, adding that after having lunch with other family members she retired to her room on the first floor.

Some time later, her father Rajendra Patel went to the first floor for some work and was shocked to find the girl hanging from the ceiling, police said.
