'Indira Gandhi magnanimous national leader ever seen'

She was speaking after offering floral tributes to the portrait of the former prime minister as part of her 25th death anniversary programme held here on Saturday.
She said that it was the foresight of Indira Gandhi that was responsible for the nationalisation of banks, green revolution, and the rapid growth in the electronic sector among various other achievements of hers. “India got the strength to tackle the challenges of the present global meltdown because of the efforts of Indira Gandhi, she claimed,” she said.

Tharadevi said the firm steps of Indira made the world to look at Congress as well as the country with a different perspective. She became god for the common men. But the ‘haves’ never agreed with her, she added.
Former minister B B Ningaiah said that the name Indira itself stands for strength and guiding force for Congress party.

District Congress President M L Murthy, Zilla Panchayat President Gayathri Shanthegowda, leaders K Mohammed, C T Shivaram, A N Mahesh, Vijaykumar, Yashodha Lakshman Gowda, Chikkaiah and H M Sathish were present. Fruits were distributed to the patients at the Mallegowda District Hospital later.
