Manav Rachna International University (MRIU) recently honoured the students of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology department (FET) for their innovative project-MRV 2, a fuel efficient formula one racing car. MRV2 is an eco-friendly, energy efficient vehicle designed, developed and fabricated by ‘Syncromesh Team’ of students of Faculty of Engineering and Technology. With their innovation, the team would be going to Malyasia next month to participate in Shell Eco Marathon 2013.

The Shell Eco Marathon is a competition wherein the most energy efficient vehicles of Asia will be participating. The event will witness participation from 16 countries all across the world. MRIU is the only private University from the NCR region to have been shortlisted for the same. Wishing luck to team Syncromesh, Dr O P Bhalla, Chancellor, MRIU, said “India needs enterprising spirit and educational institutes can play a crucial role in inculcating this amongst students.”

MRV 2, the fuel efficient formula 1 racing car developed by a team of eight engineering students is an eco-friendly vehicle with unique features like a mileage, light weight and has been made using a single cylinder diesel engine. “Not many students get a chance to apply and test their theoretical knowledge to practical. We are totally obliged to have had the freedom to work on this project,” said Aman Agah from Team Syncromesh.

Congratulating the Syncomesh team, professor Naresh Grover, Faculty of Engineering (FET), MRIU, said “The team members of Syncromesh who have designed and fabricated fuel efficient car are highly motivated and confident to break the previous records in the coming Shell Eco Marathon in the category of Diesel driven conventional type F1 car.”

Except extra-curricular activities in the college, the placement scenario in Manav Rachna International University is also bright. A total of 600 students have got placed, out of which 420 are from the Faculty of Engineering and Technology. Renowned companies like TCS, Maruti, Justdial etc. have absorbed the students based on their meritious performance. This year the university has announced a dual degree program in BBA-Global International Business and B Sc Information Technology (IT) from MRIU and Auckland Institute of Studies, New Zealand. This is because MRIU is now the only Indian University to have been given an accreditation from New Zealand Qualification Authority (NZQA).
