<p>A novel underwater resort in the Maldive islands will soon become a reality. The island of Kuredhivaru has been chosen by the Ministry of Tourism for the world’s first underwater hotel, to be known as Water Discus Hotel. <br /><br /></p>.<p>Backed by Swiss investors, the Polish company Deep Ocean Technology was given the approval to begin construction. The $50 million structure will be built by a Dubai development company within the coral reefs of the picturesque island of Kuredhivaru.<br /><br /> The Water Discus Hotel will be supported by five spindly legs, with two large disc lounges hovering above water overlooking the scenic Maldive terrain. There will be a luxury restaurant, spa, rooftop pool and helipad. In the centre of the disc lounges will be a glass tunnel that leads to 21 underwater hotel suites that offer vibrant fish-eye views of the reefs and marine life. The hotel also plans to rebuild the coral reefs. <br /></p>
