Karnataka man stabs woman after she refuses to marry him, dies by suicide

Mangaluru: A 30-year-old man allegedly attempted to murder a woman by stabbing her and later ended life by suicide at Farangipete near Bantwal.

According to the police, the deceased is Sudheer (30), a resident of Kodman. He was in a relationship with Divya alias Deekshitha (26), a resident of Farangipete, for nearly eight years.

However, the couple had been facing differences over the past few months. Despite the fallout, Sudheer reportedly continued to contact and follow Divya.

On Monday morning, Sudheer allegedly confronted Divya near Farangipete, insisting that she marry him. A heated argument reportedly ensued, during which Sudheer is said to have stabbed Divya with a knife he had brought with him.

As she tried to escape, she fell to the ground. Believing that she might have succumbed to the injuries, Sudheer fled the scene and went to Divya’s rented house and ended his life by suicide.

A case has been registered at Bantwal Rural Police Station, and an investigation is in progress.
