KL Rahul slammed a hundred in Karnataka’s second innings but Tamil Nadu progressed to the final of the Moin-ud-Dowlah cricket tournament after the completion of their three-day semifinals encounter here on Sunday.

Requiring 388 for Tamil Nadu to grab that important first innings lead, they just about nudged past that total before being bowled out for 392 in 89.4 overs.

Karnataka made a quickfire 242 in 38.4 overs but rain delays on the third and final day meant that Rahul’s century -- his second in the match --  went in vain as Karnataka could not get the desired number of overs to bowl out Tamil Nadu for a second time.

In the other semifinal, Delhi edged past hosts Hyderabad in identical fashion. Delhi had made 387 in their first innings, with Hyderabad falling short by four runs before the completion of the maximum quota of overs (90) in their first innings.

Brief scores (At ECIL): Karnataka: 387 in 86.5 overs and 242 in 38.4 overs (KL Rahul 102, Karun Nair 55, Kunal Kapoor 32; R Rohit 3-51, Rahil Shah 3-74, J Koushik 2-16, B Aparajith 2-22) drew with Tamil Nadu: 392 all out in 89.4 overs and 12/0 in 3 overs. Match called off due to rain. Result: TN qualifies on account of first innings lead. At Uppal Stadium: Delhi: 387/6 in 90 overs and 307/8 in 40 overs (Milind Kumar 101 n.o., Punit Bisht 60, Mohit Sharma 57, Jargit 32, Sumit Narwal 32; CV Milind 2-46, A Ashish Reddy 2-46, Pragyan Ojha 2-85) drew with Hyderabad 383/8 in 90 overs and 11/1 in 3.2 overs. Result: Delhi qualifies on account of first innings lead.
