NIA looks for suspect in Madgaon blast case

A team of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) was in the town on Wednesday, looking for Jayaprakash alias Jayanna, one of the suspects in the bomb blast case at Madgaon in Goa in 2009.

Two people were killed and several others injured in the blast. Jayanna, 42, is the son of Kattatadka Somarajan of Noojibaltila village near Kadaba. The NIA team conducted a mahajar after pasting posters having pictures of Jayanna on the wall of the Nada Kacheri of the Revenue department. Later, NIA officers from Hyderabad, Raja Subramanya and U Purushotham, told reporters that six people were in jail with regard to the case and four were absconding, including Jayanna.

They announced a cash reward of Rs 25,000 to anyone providing information on his whereabouts. It is said that Jayanna had left home eight years ago. He was working as an electrician and later took up a job as a driver of the vehicle belonging to the Sanatana Hindu Dharma Prachara Samsthe in Mulki.
