“The fight against the feudal system has begun now. Then it was Padmalatha who was raped and murdered in Dharmasthala and now it is Saujanya. The fight will not end till such incidents stop occurring. The CPI(M) will continue fighting till the Saujanya murder case is handed over to the CBI and justice is obtained,” said CPI(M) State Secretary G V Sriram Reddy.

He was speaking after inaugurating one-day hunger strike jointly staged by DYFI, JMS and SFI, demanding to hand over the murder case of Saujanya to CBI, at Belthangady on Friday. Clarifying that their fight was not against a religion or an individual, he said it was the fight against a system.

The police department has completely failed to probe into the Saujanya’s murder case. The police who are supposed to arrest the culprits, are instead trying to curb the voice of those fighting for justice.

The government which is supposed to stand by the victims, has unfortunately stood by the exploiters. Ministers like Vinaya Kumar Sorake, Abhayachandra Jain, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, political leader Janardhan Poojary are trying to threaten those seeking justice. Why didn’t these people demanded for action when Saujanya was murdered,” he asked.

Reddy expressed the need for people to get aware about those who are defaming religion in the guise of religion. The Congress and BJP members were united in the protest staged in Bangalore against those who have raised voice in Saujanya case. They are more concerned about the insult caused to an institution rather than the pain suffered by Saujanya’s family, he criticised.

Supporting the protesters, Kemaru seer Esha Vittal Das gave a call for all to unite together irrespective of their caste, creed, religion and political parties, to fight for justice. “Let the girl’s parents reveal the name of those who are trying to mislead the path of investigation. I have been threatened of consequences for speaking in favour of Saujanya. But, I would not stop the fight fearing for such threats,” he asserted.

DYFI District President Muneer Katipalla too flayed the political leaders for supporting some forces rather than standing for justice.

He demanded the chief minister to take up the issue seriously and come out with a stand.
