A roaring success

SNACK AWAY

Good things come in small packages. ‘Roving Feast’, a food joint, is the perfect example of this phrase. On passing by the main road of Banashankari 2nd Stage, one might be surprised at the crowd gathered in front of a small basement.

However, on going closer, it becomes clear that it is the foodies that have come to ‘Roving Feast’ to grab a quick bite.

The restaurant, which has been open to the public for the last three months, has become a regular hangout for many.

It serves both vegetarian and non-vegetarian pasta (all types) in white and red sauce; salads and rolls like paneer, chicken and egg. It serves vegetarian and non-vegetarian momos as well.

Despite the limited options on the menu, the place has not failed to attract customers.
From college students to senior citizens, a number of foodies throng the place throughout the day. Uday, who owns the place, is pleasantly surprised at the
response.

He reveals, “We have a 70-year-old regular customer. When we started, we thought that the youngsters will be our primary customers. But it is very inspiring to see a lot of families, including senior citizens, coming to our restaurant.”

Though the place is still carving a niche for itself in the market, it has many takers thanks to the word-of-mouth publicity, says Uday. He adds, “Since I live in this area too, my familiarity with the neighbourhood is helping us. We have not ventured into any sort of promotion or advertising. The people coming to the restaurant have got a good feedback from the others coming here.”

Interestingly, the chefs are all trained by Uday. He says it is tough to find trained workers in this field.

Hence, he gets people who have some knowledge of cooking and helps them master their talent. “Finding the right cooks is a tough task. Whatever little I know of cooking, I put into the dishes and we try to get the best taste. Their skills and my
experience work for us,” he notes.

The food items here are priced between Rs 40 and Rs 65. The joint does not a have seating facility. However, this is not much of a concern to the foodies who come here. As he sums up, Uday doesn’t forget to mention that the restaurant would have not been a hit without his team members – Ratan and Sita.

‘Roving Feast’ is located opposite the BDA Complex in Banashankari 2nd Stage. For details, call 9880111224.
