Rajajinagar police on Wednesday registered a case against Kannada film producer Rockline Venkatesh and his brother Bhramaresh for allegedly assaulting an industrialist and threatening his life over a financial matter.

According to police, Dr Ramegowda, owner of a super-speciality hospital and some hotels in the City, was locked up by Bhramaresh in Rockline Venkatesh’s office on Dr Rajkumar Road on Tuesday.

Bhramaresh allegedly assaulted Ramegowda and forced the latter to sign on a blank sheet of paper. He also reportedly asked Ramegowda to transfer his hotel and hospital in the former’s name as Ramegowda was unable to repay the money he had borrowed from Venkatesh earlier this year. He told Ramegowda to come to the sub-registrar’s office to transfer the properties, police said.

Following the incident, Ramegowda went to the police seeking protection and demanded action against the duo.

Ramegowda had borrowed Rs 1.45 crore at 2.5 per cent interest from Venkatesh. Although he paid the interest regularly, he was unable to repay the principal. He had not paid any amount in the last two months due to his financial troubles, despite repeated demands from Bhramaresh.“I went to Venkatesh’s office on Tuesday evening, seeking more time to pay the amount.

However, Bhramaresh abused me and later assaulted me. He asked me to pay the principal and interest on the spot or transfer my hospital and hotel,” Ramegowda said. The police have registered a case based on the complaint, said DCP (North) Sandeep Patil.
