Last Updated 29 November 2009, 17:13 IST

“Srinivas Gowda should be expelled from Congress by November 29, if not Begli Suryaprakash will be fielded as independent candidate for the Legislative Council election for local body constituencies”  Kolar MLA Varthur Prakash had challenged and the Congress leaders did not take any notice of it.

Their inaction has prompted Varthur Prakash to prepare Begli Suryaprakash to file his nomination today.

At a meeting held at Begli on Sunday, Varthur Prakash said “the leaders have not responded to our request. Hence we have made preparations for Begli Suryaprakash to file the nomination after holding discussions with the district leaders and his supporters. More than 30,000 supporters will arrive in a procession to file the nomination”.

Later speaking to media representatives he said “ There is no going back now. We were very clear in our demand that Srinivas Gowda should be expelled. The leaders have not responded to it. Now our candidate will not withdraw”.

“Hundreds of supporters from both the taluks have attended the meeting. And we are expecting huge turn out of supporters from all over on Monday”, he said.

I will speak tomorrow: Srinivas Gowda

“I will speak tomorrow” is all that former minister K Srinivas Gowda said when asked to react.

He was not prepared to make any comment with regard to his role at the Legislative Council elections.

When Deccan Herald tried to contact him at Bangalore he said “ I opposed K H Muniyappa in the previous Parliamentary elections. My stand holds good even now.”

When asked what would be his reaction if Naseer Ahmed, who is the sitting member of the legislative council gets a ticket, he refused to comment.

When asked about the rumours that he would be contesting as an independent candidate, with the support of BJP, he again refused to comment but only said “ I will speak tomorrow”.  Instead  he posed a question “if I was contesting why would I go on a foreign tour?”
