Further, 80 percent of the deaths from these non-communicable diseases are in developing countries. Statistics are pretty scary for India! <br />However, the solution is simple. <br /><br />According to WHO, just 30-45 minutes of distributed daily physical activity will keep you away from these chronic diseases. Australia is one of the countries, which has made national-level programmes to help citizens get active. As per research, if a person is clocking less than 5,000 steps per day, s/he can be classified as non-active. Anything above that helps you move towards an active lifestyle.<br /><br /> 10,000 steps per day is ideal for an adult in the age group of 25-50 years. And people who clock 10,000 steps every day have 50 percent less chance of death from lifestyle-related chronic diseases. <br /><br />Be that as it may, not all of us have the time to hit the gym or a fitness studio. But the good news is that by just walking from the parking lot to the office building, helping in domestic work, walking to a colleague’s cubicle for a discussion, catching a bus, taking a short stroll during lunch time, climbing the stairs at home/office, walking to a nearby grocery store, it is possible to cross 5,000 steps per day, and then slowly increase it to an optimum level. <br /><br />Currently, there are several wearable devices with powerful apps, which enable consumers to quantify their physical activities. These wearables can measure all types of physical performance, from sleep quality to exercise effectiveness. Such devices are sleek and smart, and can conveniently be tucked in your clothes. Since they are cloud-connected, data can be viewed and analysed anytime, anywhere, on the web, through a smart gadget. Often, these devices have a personal dashboard that will engage you with your friends, and create interesting challenges and competition with peers. <br /><br />Therefore, all it takes to get you active is quantifying your daily and ordinary physical movement.
