Special arrangements for Ganesha idol immersion

The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) has made special arrangements for the immersion of Ganesha idols in select lakes during the Gowri- Ganesha festival.

The BDA has constructed kalyanis (immersion tanks) in nine of its lakes- Jakkur, Rachenahally, Venkateshpura, Kothnur, Sompura, Thallaghattapura, Ullalu, Mallathahally and Kommaghatta.

People can immerse the idols between 10 am and 8 pm from August 29 to September 7.

Separate staff have been appointed to help the public. People have been requested to avoid idols painted with artificial and harmful colours so that the lakes are not polluted.

They have also been requested to remove the garlands and other ornamental materials and deposit them in designated places before immersing the idols, said an official press release.
