<p>The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) has made special arrangements for the immersion of Ganesha idols in select lakes during the Gowri- Ganesha festival.<br /><br /></p>.<p>The BDA has constructed kalyanis (immersion tanks) in nine of its lakes- Jakkur, Rachenahally, Venkateshpura, Kothnur, Sompura, Thallaghattapura, Ullalu, Mallathahally and Kommaghatta.<br /><br />People can immerse the idols between 10 am and 8 pm from August 29 to September 7.<br /><br /> Separate staff have been appointed to help the public. People have been requested to avoid idols painted with artificial and harmful colours so that the lakes are not polluted.<br /><br />They have also been requested to remove the garlands and other ornamental materials and deposit them in designated places before immersing the idols, said an official press release.<br /><br /><br />Police guidelines<br /><br /><br />The Bangalore City police have issued guidelines to be followed by the organisations and committees erecting Ganesha pandals.<br /><br />Obtain permission from jurisdictional police and make sure that no hindrance is caused for the public, residents and motorists.<br /><br />Take permission from the landowner where the pandal will be erected. <br /><br />Appoint two volunteers to monitor the pandal day and night.<br /><br />Do not store any inflammable material inside the pandal.<br /><br />Install CCTV cameras and record the entire proceedings.<br /><br />Obtain permission from the Bescom for lighting.<br /><br />Do not play music beyond 10 pm. <br /><br />Furnish personal details of the organisation's president, secretary and other members to the jurisdictional police station.<br /><br />Identify volunteers to maintain decorum and provide them ID cards and T-shirts bearing the organisation's name.<br /><br />Any untoward incidents or misbehaving with women will be dealt with strictly.</p>
