Campaign against Renuka's induction

Last Updated 22 December 2009, 18:24 IST

The legislators led by Yelahanka MLA Vishwanath and others collected signatures of nearly 40 party MLAs urging CM Yeddyurappa to convene  the legislature party meeting on Wednesday. Though the MLAs cited the flood relief works as reasons for the BJPLP meeting, in reality they wanted to oppose inclusion of Renukacharya.

Renukacharya, who had raised a revolt and threatened to destabilise the Government recently, is likely to be inducted into the ministry on Thursday.

Bangalore MLAs are of the view that the party should not yield to the blackmail tactics of ‘rebel’ leaders, while neglecting several senior and disciplined leaders. They want this issue to be discussed in the BJPLP meeting and take an appropriate decision.

Interestingly, Renukacharya and his supporters Gopalakrishna Belur and Sampangi have also signed the letter.

“We were under the impression that they (Bangalore legislators) really wanted to discuss about the flood relief works in the BJPLP meeting. So we put our signatures.
We realised later that it was a conspiracy and that they wanted to oppose Renukacharya’s induction into the ministry,” Gopalakrishna defended before reporters.
Yeddyurappa is holding a breakfast meeting for his party MLAs on Wednesday.
