Man held for wife's murder

Krishnaiah, 52, a construction labourer, was arrested on Thursday for murdering his wife Shivakumari at their home in Yelahanka on November 2.

The accused, a native of Andhra Pradesh, was arrested from Nandi Cross in Chikkaballapur. The couple had two sons, with one of them living in the same area and working as lemon vendor. The other was pursuing his studies in Andhra Pradesh.

Shivakumari had driven Krishnaiah out of the house since he used to fight with her every night in an inebriated state. The neighbours advice to Krishnaiah also went in vain.

On November 2, around 11 pm, a humiliated Krishnaiah, returned home and killed his wife and fled. The incident came to light when a wholesale dealer called up her son when she did not respond to phone calls. The police arrested Krishnaiah and further investigation is on.
