Sensex closes 106 points up, metal stocks gain

A benchmark index of Indian equities markets Friday closed trade 106.02 points or 0.38 percent up as the metal sector gained.

Good buying was observed in metal, banking, auto, oil and gs and capital goods sectors, while selling pressure was seen in healthcare sector.

The 30-scrip Sensitive Index (Sensex) of the S&P Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 27,949.54 points, closed trading at 28,046.66  points (provisional), up 106.02 points or 0.38 percent from the previous day's close at 27,940.64 points.

The Sensex touched a high of 28,093.23 points and a low of 27,912.90 points in the trade so far.

The S&P metal index gained 281.26 points, bankex went up by 143.29 points, auto index inched up by 115.72 points, oil and gas index increased by 113.85 points and capital goods index moved up by 86.98 points.

The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) also closed trade 32.05 points or 0.38 percent up at 8,389.90 points.
