JOIN USGambhir’s opening partner Virender Sehwag remained static at number four while Rahul Dravid gained one place to occupy 13th spot. Sachin Tendulkar lost one place to slid to 17th just a rung above VVS Laxman who gained one spot.
Two Sri Lankans — Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara — were in between Gambhir and Sehwag.
There was not much change lower down the batsmen’s chart, with West Indian Shivanarine Chanderpaul gaining one place to jump to eighth. South Africa’s Jacques Kallis and Kiwi Ross Taylor shared joint ninth.
In the bowlers’ chart still headed by South African Dale Steyn, Indian off-spinner Harbhajan remained unchanged at sixth while Zaheer Khan dropped to 11th. England off-spinner Graeme Swann was the biggest mover as he jumped seven places to third place.
