It didn’t take too long for actress Ramya Nambessan to debut in Kannada once she decided to add Sandalwood to her career graph. Everything from the script, director and the co-star fell in place and she inked the ‘Style King’ deal a while ago. “I wanted a big launch in the Kannada film industry and I have found that in ‘Style King.’ The shooting is almost through and I can’t wait for it to hit the screens,” says an excited Ramya.

She explains that her character is very intense for she plays a woman who is emotionally torn between her family and the man she loves. “She is someone who likes to hold both her parents and the man in her life together. She doesn’t want to lose either. There is a lot of scope for performance,” she states. She adds that the although she found it quite challenging to pick up Kannada in the beginning of the movie, she managed to grasp the language pretty soon. “I realised that the language is not really tough and I took a lot of effort to understand it and worked hard to master the expressions,” explains Ramya.

The script, believes Ramya, must give actors enough scope for performance. “My role in the film is an emotionally exhaustive one. The character requires that I emote different kind of emotions and each scene is different. It may not be physically stressful but it is indeed a mentally stressful one,” she says. But she adds in the same tone that she works best under stress.

“It brought out the best in me,” she adds. She has also a lot to say about her co-star Ganesh. “He is a very humble person. Ganesh is not only an extremely supportive co-star but he would actually make all efforts to mix with us. We never found him indifferent or aloof from the team,” she states.

The actress also found a lot of time to spare after the shooting schedules when she was shooting in Bengaluru. “My cousins were travelling with me and we would set out every evening to explore the place and try as many different cuisines as possible. I love the ‘biryani’ here,” she reasons.

Ramya has been getting a lot of offers from the Kannada film industry but she says that she couldn’t accept any for want of dates and a few other commitments. “But after the release of ‘Style King’, I would definitely like to consider working on more Kannada films. It has been a pleasant experience,” she signs off.
