Delivering the valedictory address at the seventh Kodagu district-level Kannada Sahitya Sammelan in Shanivarasanthe on Thursday, he said the units of the Parishat have been active at the grassroots level and thus have strengthened the base of Kannada Sahitya Parishat as a whole. Prasad said he had assured of fulfiling 10 points while presenting his manifesto prior to elections to the KSP, and now he has the satisfaction that all the 10 assurances have been realised. “Kannada Sahitya Parishat is not a thrown, and the president is not a king too. I’m a humble servant of Kannada. Kannada Sahitya Sammelanas should be held in rural areas in more numbers. This helps kindling love and regards for Kannada among the tender minds,” he observed.

“The district units of the KSP were getting only Rs 10,000 grants earlier; now they are getting Rs 5 lakh each. Out of the Rs 5 lakh grant, Rs 1 lakh should be used for new publications. It should include four books giving importance to the local talents. There should also be a reference work related to the literature, culture and social life of the district. If all district units follow these guidelines, one will get a clear picture about the scenario in the entire State,” the KSP chief noted.

Prasad said he along with Kannada Development Authority President Mukhyamantri Chandru will be meeting authorities in Delhi in May in order to demand additional funds from the Centre for the development of Kannada literature and culture. ‘Grama Siri’ a programme to promote the art and culture of a specific village in a district has  already been launched in Kummageri village of Kushtagi taluk (Koppala district). One such programme will be held at Shirangala in Kodagu soon, he informed. MP H Vishwanath was the chief guest. Sammelan President M G Nagaraj among others were present.
