After a six-decade-long wait, the residents of Kamagowdanahalli had reasons to cheer. For the first time in 60 years, a KSRTC bus entered the village and began service on Tuesday.

A large number of people gathered to welcome the red bus. The vehicle was decorated by the residents and special pujas were offered on the occasion.

The residents of Kamagowdanahalli in Hanagodu hobli of the taluk had been solely dependent on private vehicles for commuting since pre-Independence era.

When their repeated requests to elected representatives failed to bear results, the villagers, led by Raitha Sangha and Hasiru Sene leaders, met Hunsur bus depot manager Dharanendra recently and explained about their grievances. Consequently, the KSRTC decided to ply a bus on the route.

The KSRTC bus reaches the village via Hanagodu and Hunsur. The depot manager, who is instrumental in introducing a bus, is now a hero for the residents.
