Elders are the backbone of the society, says sadhwi

Minister Abhayachandra Jain promises to get Rs 50 lakh for Terapanth Bhavan

District In-charge Minister K Abhayachandra Jain has promised that he would urge the government to allot Rs 50 lakh for Terapanth Bhavan, which is being constructed in Chikkamagaluru.

He was speaking after honouring 26 septuagenarians during the ‘Shraddha Samarpan’ programme, organised by the Jain Shwethambar Terapanth Sabha, in the city on Sunday.

The Jain community believes in non-violence and doesn’t want to give pain to anyone. It guides one to live a life with strong belief in non-violence, helping nature and other qualities, Jain said.

‘Good relations’

MLC Gayathri Shante Gowda said that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had provided an opportunity to a person (Abhayachandra) from the Jain community in his Cabinet and also shared good relations with him.

Sadhwi Kavyalatha said that elders were the backbone of the society and would lead the society. Their culture and experience shows a path to the society. There are a lot of things that can be learnt from the elders, she added.

The Terapanth Sabha president Tarachand Sethia, District Congress president Dr D L Vijay Kumar, Vice President K S Shanthegowda, Publicity Committee president A N Mahesh were present among others.
