Three history sheeters externed from city

DCP Dr H T Shekar has externed three history sheeters, including the president of the district unit of a Kannada organisation, banning their entry into the city for different periods ranging from a minimum of four months to a maximum of one year.

Praveen Kumar, son of Shivanna, aged 30 years, Vokkalageri, Nanjangud town, Mysuru district, externed for a period of one year; Kiran, son of Ganesh, 29 years, from Gandhinagar for four months; and Ahmed alias Mudasir, 30, Rajendra Nagar, for six months.

Shekar told Deccan Herald that the State government, recently empowered deputy commissioners of police to exercise externment powers. The authority earlier vested with the police commissioner. In all, there are 600 history sheeters and similar action will be taken against them, if they remain active, the officer warned.

Praveen Kumar, president of Karnataka Rakshana Vedike, Mysuru district unit, has been booked in four cases from 2013 to 2015. During this period, a rowdy sheet was opened on him. He is charged with rioting, assault and restraining public servants from discharging their duties by barging into government offices. He should regularly mark his attendance at Nanjangud town police station.

Kiran has been charged with assault, murder threat and rioting in three cases booked at NR police station. He should  regularly report and mark his attendance at Srirangapatna police station in Mandya district.

Ahmed, an accused in a gas refilling and selling of domestic LPG cylinders in black market has been booked in various cases at N R Station. He should regularly mark his attendance at Srirangapatna station.

The three will be remanded in judicial custody in case they enter the City before the expiry of the externment period, according to DCP Dr Shekar.
