Jadhav undermined his position, says BJP

Taking severe exception to Chief Secretary Arvind Jadhav’s reaction to media queries on Friday, BJP MLA Suresh Kumar has said that the top bureaucrat’s act has “undermined” his position.

Jadhav landed in controversy following his late arrival to the Parliamentary Committee meeting chaired by Lok Sabha Deputy Speaker M Thambidurai.

In a bid to avoid media scrutiny, he had run up two flights of stairs and bolted himself in his office. The entire sequence of events was captured on camera.

On Saturday, Kumar, who posted the video on social media, criticised Jadhav for his “churlish attitude.”

“The video clipping of chief secretary's ‘escape’ is a sad commentary about the person who is the captain of Karnataka State Bureaucracy. He shouldn’t have antagonised the Parliamentary delegation by ignoring the high-level meeting. How can he run away from the media? This one act has undermined his position as chief secretary. It is an indication of his attitude of running away from problems too.”

Further, he has said, “He (Jadhav) had said that Karnataka is his ‘Janmabhumi’ and ‘Karmabhumi’ on the day he took charge as chief Secretary. But this particular incident has betrayed his capacity. The State is thoroughly disappointed by his churlish attitude.”
