The energy supply companies have submitted a proposal to the Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission seeking to hike the power tariff by Re one per unit. The KERC will pronounce its decision on the quantum of hike after receiving objections from the public. The revised price is likely to come into effect from April.
The escoms, last year, had submitted a proposal seeking a hike 83 paise per unit, while the KERC allowed a hike only 13 paise per unit.
