PSI transferred at 'behest' of minister

A police officer attached to the Yadgir Rural police station is said to have been transferred on the ground that his brother - a former special officer Textiles Minister Baburao Chinchansur - was responsible for the surfacing of an incriminating audio CD involving the minister.

An audio CD, in which the minister purportedly demands money from the contractor of KBR Constructions had surfaced recently. The supporters of the minister had suspected the role of Dr Basavaraj, the former special officer of Chinchansur behind the leak. Basavaraj was deputed from Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike in 2013. In a sudden development, he had put in his papers as the special officer to the minister two months ago.

Since the minister can’t act against Basavaraj, it is said that he got his (Basavaraj’s) brother Veeranna S Magi, a PSI, transferred. When contacted, Basavaraj told Deccan Herald  that he had nothing to do with the CD leak. However, he confirmed that the voice in the CD was that of the minister. “I cannot say that my brother has been transferred in connection with this incident. Prima facie, it appears that he has been transferred since he did not follow the directions of the minister,” he added.
