Revive Gandhi Park at Rathnagiri Bore: DC tells officials

Deputy Commissioner G Satyavathi directed the officials to revive the Mahatma Gandhi Park at Rathnagiri Bore on the outskirts of the city. The basic facilities should be improved at the park, she said.

Chairing a meeting of Rathnagiri Garden Trust at her office on Tuesday, she said the park lies in a picturesque place and has been attracting a lot of visitors. There is a need to improve the facilities at the park, she added.

The DC said that the play instruments at the park for the children should be repaired. The park should be revived to attract the tourists and public. The canteen inside the park should be upgraded and quality food should be supplied to the visitors. A roof should be constructed for the toy train station.

The repair of railway track should be taken up on priority basis and the fare for the journey in toy train should be fixed, she added.

Sathyavathi said a private agency should be entrusted with the responsibility to maintain Sulabh Showchalay at the park, she stated.

The City Municipal Council should take up the work on road from Ramanahalli Main Road to the park. The Mescom should make arrangement for the electricity supply to the park, she said. She said the banks should come forward to maintain parks in the city.
