Special CBI court praises Modi's aide

A special CBI court on Thursday praised Nripendra Misra, principal secretary to the prime minister, for performing his duties “with due diligence and confidence” while he was telecom secretary.

“There is (was) a secretary Nripendra Misra who performed his duties with due diligence and confidence and never shied away from recording his views on the file,” Special CBI Judge O P Saini noted while discharging former telecom minister Dayanidhi Maran and others from the Aircel-Maxis deal case.

“The transfer of shares of Aircel Cellular Limited to Aircel Digilink India Limited was being recommended by lower-level officers, which was in violation of competition clause in the agreement,” the court noted.
