2 arrested for trying to molest IIMB student

Duo had also assaulted victim and her friends

 Two youths were arrested in Marathalli within an hour of their attempt to molest a woman.

The incident took place near Panathur in Marathalli on Sunday night. According to the police, the arrested are Lokesh Kumar and Kiran, both residents of Marathalli.

They tried to molest the victim, a 22-year-old student of Indian Institute of Management Bangalore, who was living in the campus hostel.

On Sunday, the victim had gone to Panathur to meet her friend. The victim and two of her friends went to a nearby restaurant to have dinner. Around 11 pm, while they were returning home, Kumar and Kiran came on a bike in the opposite direction and pulled the victim’s hair. The duo also assaulted the victim and her friends when they tried to nab them, said the police.

Managed to escape

The women started shouting, the residents came out of their houses and noticed the two youths manhandling the girls. On seeing the residents, the youths tried to flee but were stopped by the residents. The youths, however, managed to slip away. At the same time, constables from Marathalli police station Usman and Beeralingappa, who were on patrol, found the two youths running. They chased and caught them, added the police.

Based on the victim’s complaint, a case was registered in Marathalli police station and investigation is on. The constables’ presence of mind was appreciated and a cash reward of Rs 2,000 each was announced by city police commissioner Praveen Sood.
